Husky is the brand name of RTU series developed by Synergy Systems & Solutions. RTU E70, or more completely called RTU 6047-E70 is one of the models sold under brand name Husky.

RTU E70 requires 24VDC input supply. As a very rough guess, 3A supply is enough for RTU E70’s internal use at an installation with 250 hardwired I/O points. More accurate calculations can be done using the information specified in the datasheets of various cards.

Hot swappable I/O refers to the feature of the I/O cards which allows them to be safely removed/replaced while the RTU is in Power ON condition. This results in easy maintenance of the RTU since a faulty card can be replaced without switching off the whole RTU.

How is RTU E70 Configured?
RTU E70 is configured through its Configuration Software. Basic configuration is prepared by specifying one or more racks and then specifying I/O cards in various slots of these racks. Individual channel of the card may also have configurable properties.
In addition to the above, various communication tasks are configured by the user in Configuration Software. I/O exposed by each communication task is also specified.
Whole of RTU E70 configuration is then downloaded into the CPU by connecting the Configuration Software to the RTU E70 CPU over LAN.
What is SOE or Sequence of Events? Does RTU E70 support SOE?
SOE refers to change in digital inputs which are time-stamped in the RTU with 1 millisecond time resolution. SOE is useful in analyzing causes of CB tripping in a substation. All the SOEs are acquired by a SCADA System from RTU E70 and then presented in chronological order for arriving at the cause of the tripping.
Yes, RTU E70 supports SOE. Time stamping for SOE is done at individual card level. This provides maximum time accuracy.
Does RTU E70 support non-volatile memory for user data?
RTU E70 is delivered with minimum 16MB of non-volatile memory which is used for storage of, for example, events which are still not transferred to SCADA master. Custom logics can be developed for storage of project specific data in non-volatile memory.
Does RTU E70 support dual communication channels?
Yes, RTU E70 supports dual communication channels for communication with SCADA Master.
Does RTU E70 support multiple SCADA Masters?
Yes RTU E70 supports one or more SCADA Masters; the number of masters is only limited by the number of communication ports available.
How can RTU E70 be Time-Synchronized?
RTU E70 supports time synchronization from a SCADA System, provided the communication protocols being used also supports time synchronization message. For example, time synchronization is supported over IEC870-5-101, DNP3.0, and SPORT protocols.
RTU E70 also supports time synchronization from a GPS receiver over serial NMEA0183 protocol.
Is RTU E70 a rugged hardware?
